I worked with the band on Monday for the first time and the arrangements are amazing.  Michael Roulston has done top-notch job and worked like a dog on these.  Can’t believe I have trumpet, flugelhorn, violin, bass, clarinet, tenor sax and flute.  It’s a real treat, and am so looking forward to doing the show tonight.

This is my first all jazz show, and it’s so exciting for me.  Almost full house, but more bums on seats always welcome!

]]> http://www.haroldsanditen.com/2012/03/shades-of-blue/feed/ 0 NEW SHOW IN LONDON – SHADES OF BLUE http://www.haroldsanditen.com/2012/02/new-show-in-london-shades-of-blue/ http://www.haroldsanditen.com/2012/02/new-show-in-london-shades-of-blue/#comments Thu, 23 Feb 2012 08:33:02 +0000 Harold Sanditen http://www.haroldsanditen.com/?p=300 The show will be at The Pheasantry, London on March 14 and 15, and April 10 and 11.   I’ve been working full-out and the show’s falling into shape.  This is a particularly exciting show as it’s all jazz and blues arrangements.  It’s also an almost completely new repertoire, and I’m adding a fourth musician.  Between them it’s almost a full orchestra!  I’ll have piano, bass/acoustic guitar, clarinet/flute/sax, and trumpet/flugelhorn/violin – terrific mix I think.

All the songs have to do with the word “blue” – and I’m amazed at how many different meanings that one word has in English – sometimes completely opposite.  The research has been fun, although some of the slang meanings of “the blues” have been pretty bizarre…..
